About

Hello,

I’m a avid Internet User and in the past I’ve tried to contribute to the Internet also. My last contributation was Wampad.com which was a Seach Based Mobile Portal. My day job and the birth of my third child put a halt on further development.

This blog is about my latest project called media.home. It started as a website on my home server for music. It was a pain keeping everthing in sync between all my computers for music, so I put together a quick app to push all the mp3 data to a sql server and with a link to the mp3 files. Then I could search for artists and songs, make playlists and best of all play it through a web browser at any computer.

Next I through in a picture collection because we’ve got a ton and it’s hard to keep track of them all and find specific ones. All the pictures now have a sql record pointing to them and I can associated tags to them to help find pictures entering in something like “dad bbq year:1999″. Of course not all the old pictures have tags yet but they will soon.

All the above is fine and dandy and there is alot of open source projects I could have used but as a programmer I decided to roll my own.

The thing I’m exited about is the addition of a news reader on my media.home project. I really liked Newsgator and used it for a few years. The interface was good and how I read my feeds via a mobile browser, offline with a desktop app or online and have it all sync up was great. I’d probably would still be using them now if I hadn’t become an info junky. My post “RSS Fatigue” summerizes why I left Newsgator as my reader.
